Grantee Perception Report

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation participated in the fall 2005 and fall 2008 cycles of the Center for Effective Philanthropy’s Grantee Perception survey.

The results of the survey, published in the Grantee Perception Report®, provide information on DDCF grantees' perceptions of the foundation's performance and helps DDCF staff identify areas where improvements may be needed in the foundation's processes or practices.

The foundation thanks its grantees for their participation and welcomes their ongoing feedback as part of the foundation’s commitment to continuously improving its performance and effectiveness.

2008 Surveys

Between September and October 2008, the Center for Effective Philanthropy surveyed grantees from the DDCF’s Arts, Habitat Conservation and Child Abuse Prevention programs, the DDCF Climate Change Initiative, and the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art’s Building Bridges Program.

During the same period, the Center for Effective Philanthropy also administered a separate, custom survey for recipients of the DDCF Medical Research Program's career ladder awards, which support the development of individual physician-scientists.

Excerpts and full copies of the reports are provided below.

About the Grantee Perception Report

The Center for Effective Philanthropy’s Grantee Perception Report® (GPR) is a management tool that provides foundations with comparative data on grantee perceptions of their performance on a variety of dimensions. The GPR is based on an anonymous survey of grantees covering issues such as interactions during the grant, the application and reporting processes, and perceived foundation impact.
